Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program, in cooperation with law enforcement, enlisting the active participation of residents to help reduce crime in our community. This program encourages our residents to work together in creating the most effective and basic crime prevention techniques, neighbors looking out for each other.
About the Neighborhood Watch Program
Neighborhood Watch groups are formed by blocks. A captain is elected by a neighborhood group to represent his / her block. Meetings are scheduled with a Pasadena Police representative to begin the program. Neighborhood watch signs can be placed on their block upon completion of the neighborhood group. Subsequent Neighborhood Watch meeting topics can cover a wide range of safety-related issues, from child safety to identity theft and more.

How to start a Neighborhood Watch?
The first step is talking to your fellow neighbors about starting a group and recruiting as many neighbors as possible.
The next step is contacting your local law enforcement agency. Invite them to meet with your group at a time and place convenient for your Watch Group. It is essential for your group to work in collaboration with law enforcement because Neighborhood Watch is a cooperative effort.
If law enforcement is unavailable to come to the first meeting you might want to have a meeting to discuss the concerns and issues in the neighborhood. Your group should create a plan on how to work towards lessening the impact of the top 3 concerns of neighbors.
It is important to decide what type of communication will work for your watch group - meetings, social media, or both.
